Last year the government decided, as a way of promoting the sciences and thus producing more medical students, that every secondary school should have a science laboratory.
Despite providing mandatory design specifications - which to my mind are three times bigger than what is needed - the government provided no money whatsoever for the buildings. As a result, the building projects have struggled. We have promised Mtae Secondary School 50 bags of cement - each weighing 50 kilos - as a contribution towards a new science laboratory which is planned for the near future. In 2015 we also delivered cement and iron bars to the Sunga Secondary School for the same purpose.
